What is it?

You may have heard about it before, but do you know exactly what Microdermabrasion is? Put simply, it’s a procedure you can undergo that is minimally invasive and aims at improving both your
skin tone and texture. It can also reduce the effects of things such as sun damage, wrinkles, scarring and much more.

The procedure is carried out in professional salons and should always be performed by someone who is qualified to carry out microdermabrasion. The specialist will then use a special applicator
which essential sands away the outer layers of your skin injecting a new form of life into your cheeks. It can also be carried out with a spray and a vacuum which will end up producing the same
result.

What skin conditions can microdermabrasion treat?

As a cosmetic procedure, microdermabrasion aims to treat a wide range of skin conditions in order to have the skin looking smoother, clearer and livelier. Just some of the conditions that can be
treated by this include: –

 Sun-damaged skin
 Stretch marks
 Age spots and brown spots
 Uneven skin tones
 Dull looking skin
 Fine line and wrinkles

What different ways are there to carry out the procedure?

Despite microdermabrasion, in general, having the same end result, there are a few different ways in which the procedure can be carried out: –

 Diamond tipped handpiece – this handpiece is gently used on the skin to exfoliate any dead cells whilst sucking them away from your skin simultaneously.
 Crystal microdermabrasion – rather than using a diamond-tipped handpiece, this procedure uses a handpiece that sprays the finest of crystals onto the skin
 Hydra dermabrasion – This is the newest form of procedure and involves the combination of both dermal infusion and exfoliation without crystals. This treatment will maximise blood flow and stimulates collagen production.

Are there any side effects of microdermabrasion?

If you are planning to have some microdermabrasion treatment carried out, you might want to be aware of some of the side effects. After the treatment has been completed some of the more common side effects can include swelling, the skin being tender and redness. However, these side effects are only short term and you can expect them to go away after a few hours. After your
treatment ill advise you to use a moisturiser in order to stop your skin going dry and flaky following the treatment. You should also be able to return back to your everyday life and there is little to no downtime following the treatment.

How much does the treatment cost?

If you come down to my salon a microdermabrasion facial will cost, you just £20 which includes the full treatment that will leave your skin looking fresh and rejuvenated. However, if you’d rather go for a Foto RF Skin Rejuvenation which is treated with a pulsed light that also costs just £20.
